In 2017, I worked as an engineer in manufacturing facilities.
Well on my way to a successful, rewarding career in the supply chain space, I was incredibly proud of my professional achievements.
But, as it often does, that success came at a price. The glory didn’t last long.
As I reached new vocational heights and accepted greater and greater responsibility, I began to buckle under the pressure. Over time, food became my trusted companion, a comforting drug of choice. A full, restful night’s sleep felt like an occasional luxury. And the extra 30 pounds slowly crept on as my energy and zeal for life waned.
Still, I pressed on. There didn’t seem to be any other options, and admitting my inability to cope, even to myself, felt shameful.
But despite my best efforts, my personal life slowly turned to shambles at the expense of myself and those closest to me.
And then, one day, it happened.
My mind, body, and emotions simply couldn’t take it anymore. A sudden anxiety attack seized me like a thick sheet of ice, and I felt a surge of overwhelming panic as my heart thundered inside my chest. Not long after the episode started, I was rushed to the emergency room.
And just like that, after years of repeating the same health-destroying mistakes in the name of professional ambition, burnout forced me to make the one decision I had longed to avoid: part ways with a career I loved, long before I was ready.
Milton Coaching Collective came to life as I realized that my peers in the STEM world, especially women, experienced the same symptoms of burnout.
No woman should have to make the same choice I did.
And when women leave the workforce, companies suffer. They lose out on their leadership styles, creative perspectives, and other unique qualities.
That’s why, today, as a certified coach, I joyfully combine my corporate experience in people development and passion for wellness to deliver sound solutions that allow women to enjoy long careers making powerful impacts within their organizations.
My clients get far more than just my knowledge when working with me; they receive genuine accountability. When they fall off track or make mistakes, rather than chastise them, I get in the trenches, dig into the heart of their resistance to change, and gently nudge them back in the right direction.
My feedback is always tame, constructive and delivered on time. I tell my clients what they need to hear when they need to hear it, without guilt or shame, so they can pick themselves up and keep journeying toward change.
I craft every lesson, program, and social media post from thoroughly researched and vetted information. And rather than remaining static, I allow my coaching methods to evolve with science. This means that as information changes, I keep my clients updated and adjust their programs so they continue to achieve the results they need.
Here’s something to understand about me: I have bulldog tenacity when it comes to finding solutions for my clients. I’m with them all the way, problem-solving and guiding by example until the light bulb switches on and breakthrough appears.
